Dr Kirk was delighted to host farewell drinks for Elizabeth Rothwell in the Orchard and the Lumi Library. Friends, past and present colleagues, former pupils and parents gathered for a tremendous celebration of Elizabeth's 37 years at St Mary's! With drinks and delicious canapes, guests enjoyed a wonderful evening of speeches and tributes from Dr Kirk, colleague Sharon Durrant, James Rothwell and alumnae (and parent of one Elizabeth's current pupils) Charlotte Stanwell.
As Dr Kirk said, Elizabeth's time at St Mary's, as Head of Classics and leader of Osmund Company, had spanned so many historical events both at Calne, as well as nationally and internationally and with her initials ER, she really had 'reigned' over a significant period. Almost on cue, the Red Arrows flew overhead and the audience cheered and clapped with the brilliant timing of an impromptu flypast!
We wish Elizabeth well in her retirement and know that she will be hugely missed at St Mary's.
