Afternoon Tea & Tours

A wonderful afternoon in the sunshine, with local alumnae sharing memories, stories & cake!

On the afternoon of Thursday 18th May and number of alumnae gathered for a 'Tea & Tour' as part of our 150th celebrations.

School Archivitist, Elizabeth Christie (Harker, 1968 Leaver), Barbara Sealy (Smellie, 1962 Leaver), Veronia Broadie (Bardswell, 1962 Leaver), her daughter Helen Ratzer (Broadie, Class of 1996), Daphne Glass (Williams, 1957 Leaver), Wendy Laughlin (1960 Leaver), Diana Lee-Browne (Ford, 1953 Leaver), Penelope Preston (Wykeham, 1952 Leaver), Joan Sparrow (1954 Leaver) and Morwenna Brewer (1961 Leaver) joined Caroline Wrench and Sara-Jane Socha (Chair of 150th Commitee and former member of staff) for a tour of the school and grounds followed by delicous afternoon tea!

Everyone was so delighted to be back at St Mary's and amongst old friends, and some had bought memories, school photos and reports to share.  It was lovely to see so many guests and the afternoon was a great succes, as Morwenna Brewer wrote in her thank you card :

‘Very many thanks for laying on such a special visit to St Mary’s yesterday. The whole effect and atmosphere of the place was truly invigorating: the garden established and abundant, the Library a revelation, even Red Hall and former chapel transformed and I loved seeing the girls coming and going from Lansdowne, tennis racquets in hand, just as we used to do….’

We hope to organise more of these occasions in the future.
