On Saturday 27th April, Calne was alive with the sound of singing at the Calne Spring Sing, a community celebration of choir singing featuring choirs of all styles, shapes and sizes at venues across Calne, such as the Town Hall, Marden House, Parish Church and the Calne Free Church. First on the programme in Marden House was our LIV Choir and the Major Minors Children's Choir, in their first major public collaboration!

With Mrs Dudley Fryar leading both choirs and piano accompaniment by Mr Sandon-Williams, our Head of Keyboards, the audience were treated to a wonderfully diverse programme. The Major Minors Children's Choir, featuring primary school children of Calne and the surrounding villages, started the concert with the traditional Candian folk song, the beautifully moving Land of the Silver Birch, followed by No Matter What by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jim Steinman (though popularly known by Boyzone!), with the LIV Choir joining them on the stage for two collaborative songs, Pure Imagination (from Wonka) and River Lullaby (from The Prince of Egypt).

Both choirs impressed with their dedicated performances and their close harmony and it was a delightful coming together. We look forward to next year’s event!

Mrs Bethan Dudley-Fryar, Head of Vocal Studies
