The St Mary's Calne Ski Racing Team flew out to Flaine on Friday 27th January to take part in the British Schoolgirls' Races with 25 schools competing and more than 150 girls racing.
We trained on Saturday and Sunday with our ski coach, Vincent, incorporating free ski, Slalom and Giant Slalom race practice. Our A Team was Celeste, Nancy and Emma, while our B Team was Alicia, Coco and India.
Monday was an early start with a 8am bib pick up, course inspection and soon after the Giant Slalom races started. Thankfully, the conditions were great. All six of the team got down twice and with good times. The afternoon saw the parallel races take place. We won against St Mary's Ascot in the first round and then drew with Aiglon College.
Tuesday morning was another early start, with everyone ready for the slalom race. Again, all six team members finished twice with times. We just had to wait for the presentation night to find the results.
Wow, what a night it was! As you will see below, the results were impressive!
Giant Slalom
U21 - 1st - Celeste
U18 - 1st - Nancy
U16 - 1st - Alicia
U14 - 1st - Emma
Slalom
U21 - 1st - Celeste
U14 - 1st - Emma
U18 - 3rd - Nancy
Combined Slalom and GS
U21 - 1st - Celeste

Congratulations to all the girls who took part. It was fantastic to be back at Flaine and absolutely thrillling to see everyone perform so well.
