The Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service delivered their annual 'Safe Drive Stay Alive' roadshow event hosted at St Mary's for LVI (Year 12) pupils of both St Mary's Calne and Kingsbury Green Academy on Tuesday 8th February.
The event involved a wide range of stories that highlighted the vital importance of road safety and driver awareness. Each story was based on a personal experience of the guests and provided an insight into the reality of loss and suffering caused by road traffic accidents. The students engaged in discussions about key topics of driver and passenger responsibility, and also the importance of being aware of the four signs of danger: phone use, a lack of safety belts, speed and alcohol consumption.
While at times difficult to watch, the roadshow was an essential part of learning about safer driving and provided an honest approach to the tragic consequences of dangerous driving.
