Saturday 10th June saw the return of our annual Sports Day at the Beversbrook Sports Facility, this year with a few special 150th anniversary events added into the mix. The weather was perfect, if a little hot, which, along with the Company tents surrounding the finish line, created a great atmosphere for all the spectators and competitors.

Throughout the afternoon, girls competed in a variety of events on both track and field, gaining points to support their Companies. Competition was fierce, as it always is, and there were some outstanding individual performances - so many of the school records were under threat!

A special mention goes to Michelle (MIV), who got a new MIV record in 200m, running a time of 28.39s, beating the previous record of 28.40s!

Lily (MIV) also beat the MIV record for Javelin, throwing 24.64m but later beat this again at the Wiltshire Schools County Athletics Competition for a new record of 27.19m.

The Tug of War competition was once again a popular and spectacular watch for all involved. Each Company competed against one another and this year’s winners, receiving the Inter Company Tug of War cup went to Grosstete.

For the 150th Anniversary a few extra events were added to celebrate. We had the 150m Dash competed by the LVI with Amber taking 1st place, and the pupil vs parent fancy dress relay, which was won by the LVI. At the end of all events, it was time to see how the parents and staff would compete in the Tug of War, with the parents having back-to-back wins for the 2nd year in a row, making it 2-0 to parents overall. The staff will have to turn their efforts up a notch next year!

There was eager anticipation as the results were calculated and then the following awards were announced: Junior and Inter Individual Trophies; Junior, Inter and Senior Company winners and the Overall Winning Company Shield.

Congratulations to Osmund for winning the Overall Winning Company Shield!

Well done to all the girls that took part and supported their Companies throughout the day, it was yet again a very successful day and event!
