It’s time to get ‘quizzing’! On Monday 31st January in Chapel, Mr Stoten launched the St Mary’s Anniversary Quiz, in celebration of the school’s 150th year, to encourage the whole school community to enhance their knowledge of the history of St Mary’s and the people who have shaped it.
Across the school campus, pupils are being challenged to search for 24 history boards, in 22 locations. They have the support of a map to assist in their search, should they need a little help.
On Thursday 9th February, Mrs Handy, Head of History & Politics, will stretch everyone’s memories by hosting a special Quiz in Chapel with multiple choice questions based on the content of the boards. There will be Company points up for grabs as well prizes for individual answers.
As an extra brain teaser, each of the 22 sites where boards are displayed will bear a letter. Pupils must find all 22 letters and unscramble them to solve an anagram, which is a word linked to the history of the school. The student with the winning answer will be awarded a £10 School Shop Voucher (if there are multiple correct answers, the winner will be drawn at random). Staff are also encouraged to take part in the fun!
Enormous thanks go to our volunteer Archivist, Mrs Elizabeth Christie, for her time and effort in creating the insightful and entertaining content for the boards and to Mrs Handy and Mr Stoten for their enthusiastic support for the idea.
Here are some LIV quizzers in action.
Happy Quizzing!
