Students from LV Computer Science attended the annual 'Girls in Tech' event at UWE Bristol. This event is dedicated to inspiring female secondary school students to explore the dynamic and varied world of technology. Our pupils had the chance to explore careers related to eSports as well as opportunities to gain internships or funded study and work also with Microsoft. Other workshops included developing phone apps with MIT App Inventor, using AI agents to train on cybersecurity, or using AI to solve environmental problems in large businesses (hosted by HP).
Taking place at the vibrant UWE Frenchay Campus, this employer-led initiative is not just about showcasing careers in information technology, robotics, and engineering. It’s an opportunity to break stereotypes and spark interest in technology among girls, especially those who may not yet see themselves in this field.
The event featured interactive activities and challenges emphasising essential non-technical skills vital for success in the tech industry, such as problem-solving, collaboration, communication, and information gathering. It’s a chance for students to develop these skills in a fun and supportive environment.
