It’s been a glorious bright spring week at St Mary’s, which is putting an extra spring in our steps (not that we seem to need it – the energy levels at Calne are astonishing!).
It was such a pleasure to introduce the new Head Girl Team to the whole school community on Tuesday at Chapel. Congratulations to Ada, Liv and Allison, and thank you to all the LVI girls who put themselves forward for consideration. Our current Head Girl trio of Claire, Bea and Honor, who step down from their posts at the end of this term, have provided truly inspirational student leadership over the last year. The new team has big boots to fill but I know they will be ambitious and determined as they bring their own personal style and ideas to their new roles.
Our Charity Week, in aid of the Stroke Association, came to a spectacular finale last Friday with Open Mic Night in a packed-out theatre. The audience enjoyed superb performances from musicians from across the school accompanied by a live band. Thank you to everyone who took part and organised this phenomenal event. If you were not able to join us and you would like to make a donation to our 2025 St Mary’s Stoke Association campaign can do it here.
The A Level Drama practical exam on Tuesday evening was simply incredible. What a wonderful evening, beautifully executed by every single performer. My congratulations to you all. Before the A Level drama production, I was treated to a Shrove Tuesday feast led by the LVI who had a production line going in the kitchen. It was delicious!
We were delighted to share this week the launch of our Lower School programme. Look out for more information in the coming weeks as we share more detail on how we are going to further enhance the educational experience of our two youngest year groups.
We wish the best of luck to everyone competing at this weekend's National Schools Lacrosse Championships. More than 100 students across six teams from St Mary’s will be taking part over the four-day event, and we wish them all the very best of success. Also on Saturday, we will be holding our Confirmation Service in Calne which is a very special occasion for all.
As a school who loves all things STEM, we are really looking forward to next week’s British Science Week. Keep a look out on our social media as we’ll continue to share the abundance of events taking place.
Best wishes,
Anne Wakefield
